Travel in Style: Singapore

Now, it’s the holiday seasons, and I recently just got back from Singapore. And I decided to sum up the fashion trend here.

First off, if you’re a tourist visiting Singapore, here’s a tip: dress lightly. Singapore is HOT, and I come from a tropical country, so it’s saying something. Another tip would be, wear comfortable shoes, you will do a lot of walking in Singapore most probably because you will use a lot of their public transportation since taxi is expensive.

There’s one thing I notice with how the locals dress in Singapore: they wear a lot of T-shirts and shorts. Now, this depends on where you are in Singapore, but for the most part, Singaporeans dress very casually. However, if you’re going to places like Marina Bay Sands, you can spot a more dressier fashion with lots of heels, probably because it’s a high class mall and there’s a casino nearby.

Here are some of the outfits I wore while I was there, featuring our beloved Ellena.

We both also used minimal make up, mostly because we know we’ll be walking in the Singaporean heat and inevitably sweat. So we basically just doesn’t bother. The make up mostly consists of BB Cream for me and sunscreen for Ellena, some concealer, mascara, and a tiny bit of blush. For Marina Bay, I used a little bit of eyeliner. That’s pretty much it.

Although the Singaporeans dress quite casually, they’re still very fashionable because what they lack in variety, they compensate with colors. You will spot a lot of flower patterned shorts, pops of colors, cute sandals and sneakers. There are also quite some colorful summer dresses.
